Offer to buy him a license plate frame. Nothing more. If he reports this through his insurance, they will likely flag his behavior. They don’t have patience or time for someone without a legitimate claim. If he goes and rams his car into a wall before the adjuster arrives, you’ve saved yourself the heartache by taking the pictures. Good work.

If the insurance company suspects fraud, they have a whole department for it. They’ll transfer the case and prosecute

I’ve been hit by a driver with a manual at a light just like your experience. I was no where near too close to the car. I don’t think he realized how far back he was rolling before he caught it. I got a good settlement out of it because it was his fault for not controlling his car in the first place. It’s a common thing.

sorry to say this, but your at fault.
it was your car that moved back at the light.
never mind that he was sitting on your bumper and steped on the gas once you started to move.

go to the dealer and price the replacement part as well as instalation and set up an appointment for him to have it replaced.
offer in writing to do this and enclose a copy of the photo that you took to keep it out of the insurance.

for the record, when in an accident you should always take an entire roll of pictures, every angel ans well as all road conditions and the interior of the car, stick /auto miles and so on.
