i would go with the Evo because its a rally car and its an all wheel drive turbo!
I personally would prefer the EVO simply from a performance aspect. I cannot stand to drive boring cars that nobody cares about. If you bought the TSX and then got to test drive an EVO, you would **** your car. The EVO is more fun to drive. Think about this, in 20 years nobody is going to care about an Acura TSX because it is a boring car. The same cannot be said about the EVO.
EVO stay away from anything HONDA.
The Lancer Evolution is definitely not a car for everybody, and it is a more high-performance sports car than the typical driver would appreciate. This is a driving tool for the most committed die-hard enthusiasts. 295 HP with outstanding handling.
Acura’s entry-level sedan, the TSX, arrived for 2004. It’s not as exciting to drive as some of the best sports sedans, but it is agile and roomy enough. The ride is a bit too firm. The powertrain is very smooth, and the four-cylinder engine returns good fuel economy. It offers a slick manual or automatic transmission. The interior has impressive fit and finish and the controls are logically arranged, but the rear seat is not that roomy. We found the optional navigation system easy to use. The TSX is a pleasant car that straddles the family- and upscale-sedan categories, and is an excellent used-car alternative to a new small sedan.
My choice is the Evo for thrills, and to impress. The Acura would be my choice for the family. Expect significantly better reliability with the Acura, too.
Well you could get the tsx and turbocharge it. That’s quite a bit of work though. The EVO is a complete different monster from the Acura. All wheel drive and a turbo can really liven up your drive to work.
If it were me, I’d choose the tsx and mod it out. A fun project to do and your tsx would be a sleeper.
To be honest thieves will attack any nice car and I’m sure most car thieves know that the evo’s have a turbo and other theft worthy parts inside.
Btw the tsx interior is miles ahead of the Evo’s as far as luxury’s are considered if that interests you.
Regarding reliability the Acura will likely be more reliable than the Evo but I think it’s worth to sacrifice a bit of reliability for a Alot of fun in the Mitsubishi.
If you live in snowy climate take the EVO for the AWD. You won’t regret it.
Actually contrary to your belief the Evo would be more of a thief magnet. Stock, this thing would absolute mincemeat of the TSX even with a 6-speed manual trans. AWD also means it handles better, gets better traction, and can handle dirt and snow better than the FWD TSX. I can see why you’d be turned off by the Mitsubishi brand, because their reliability isn’t as good as other Japanese brands (Eclipse….’Nuff said), if that is the case perhaps look into its direct rival, the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. These things have been consistently faster than Evos every generation, the AWD system is superior, and they have a better security system as well (You need to put in a special code to turn on the engine every time you start it, this is unique to every ‘Rex. Also, if you get hijacked, the thief has to turn off the engine and put in the code cause otherwise half a mile down the road the engine will cut out on purpose). It’s also a great looker, and 2006 was the year they got the 2.5L flat-4 upgrade from 2.0L so it’s more powerful than the Evo IX.
