When the light turned green and I was ready to go, (I drive a manual car), I put on first gear, and moved my feet from brake to the acceleration. because the street was not completely flat, my car slided a little bit backwards (about…1 to 2 inches), and hit the car behind me. However, from my experience of driving a manual car for so many years, this rarely happened, especially, it was a pretty flat street, not a hill. So I went out and checked the cars. Nothing, no scratch on my car, no scratch on his front bumper, but, a ***** on his plastic license plate cover. The owner of the rear car was very mad at me, and yelling at me asking for my insurance information, and I explained that..you might have been following me too closely, which is almost like tailgating. And he didn’t listen, and said that he will get money out of it. So, I got his insurance information and took a picture showing that his car was in the back.
I still think the reason why this happened is because he was following too closely, and I was not going to make a big deal out of it since my car was not damaged, and his car, itself, wasn’t damaged either, except this ***** on his plastic license plate cover. But, I didn’t want him to jump on me and get the $$ from my insurance company. I know that he could probably go to a doctor and claim that he was injured of something ‘cuz I’ve seen this happened before. What should I do?
